CELLAR DOOR IS NOW OPEN! We have embarked upon a journey to produce some of the best quality and value wines on Kangaroo Island. The False Cape vineyard was established in 1999 by Jamie and Julie Helyar and combine third generation Kangaroo Island farming heritage with third generation grape growers of Langhorne Creek. It is now the largest vineyard on Kangaroo Island. Our False Cape Wine is made by Lake Breeze winemaker Greg Follett (Julie’s brother) with 2003 their first vintage. The rustic charm and idyllic setting among the gum trees and vineyard makes our cellar door combining premium wine and homemade pies and platters sure to become a top attraction on Kangaroo Island.

Our False Cape Wines can be found at most bottle shops and restaurants around Kangaroo Island and at our Cellar Door for tastings, sales and by the glass to enjoy with a homemade pie or platter.

False Cape Wines Cellar Door will offer tastings and sales of great quality wines along with Cheese platters, homemade pies, seasonal specials and a kids menu. There is a a kids nature playground, Farm Animal viewing within a fenced area so the adults can relax and enjoy a glass of award winning wine. There is also a Basketball Backboard for the older kids. The Cellar Door is made from recycled wood, jetty timbers and stone sourced on the property. The Cellar Door will allow visitors to taste False Cape Wines in an idyllic setting nestled among the vineyard and Gum trees’
Product
The False Cape Vineyard was selected for its Terra Rosa soils, North Facing slopes and its proximity to the South Coast. False Cape was named after a nearby coastal landmark, it is located in the picturesque Willson River Valley at the East end of Kangaroo Island.
The varieties planted are Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Riesling and our new release Rose. The vineyard is grown as naturally and organically as possible. All our reds are dry grown with a lower yield giving great intensity and flavour to the grapes.
