The Wurst family- Graham, Helen, Tom & Steph are the owner operators of the Lathami vineyard located 5km from Stokes Bay on the north coast of Kangaroo Island. Shiraz vines were planted in 2000 & after much research, Fiano, a southern Italian white variety was planted, in 2009. The vines are planted adjacent to the Lathami Conservation Park which is one of the nesting sites for the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo.
A male tail feather is a feature of our Shiraz label with a female feather represented on the Fiano label. Our business is family based, hands on & very much a small enterprise focusing on production of quality Kangaroo Island wine.

For your convenience, we can arrange delivery of wine.
The first Lathami Shiraz was produced in 2004. The following vintages quickly gained a reputation for quality and are intense in flavour with an elegant structure. Great to drink at any time but perfectly complement a KI lamb or beef roast. The 2012 with its ripe berry & plum flavours & a spice finish, is available now.
Our Sparkling Shiraz is hand-made, fermented in the bottle & exhibits elegant fruit flavours and a long, savoury finish that is laced by fine bubbles. It is delicious served with foods ranging from spicy Asian dishes to hearty roasts.
Fiano, a southern Italian grape variety, was planted in 2009. This wine is highly sought after & has characteristics including a light straw colour, fruity nose (pear & apple) with a medium to full bodied palate & a delicious savoury finish. It is the only Fiano available on Kangaroo Island but sadly is out of stock at present…the 2016 crop is looking good! The wine is perfectly paired with pasta & other Italian dishes but especially good with seafood freshly caught on KI.
When pruning in the sleet & rain with fingers numbed by the cold or putting on nets in the blazing sun in an attempt to outwit the birds, we sometimes question what we are doing… but we remain confident in the future of the wine industry on Kangaroo Island & look forward to producing many more quality wines
